CompTIA is an organisation which for the last 24 years has been dedicated to advancing the growth of the information technology industry and those working within it. With more than 20,000 members in 102 countries, CompTIA is the leading global IT trade association with influence in all areas of the IT industry.

CompTIA A+ is recognised throughout the IT industry as the foundation credential for a career in technology, and has recently been updated to reflect the evolution of skills for computer service and support personnel. The updated courses and ensuing exams cover both technology essentials and the specialised skills required in different computer service and support environments.

The CompTIA A+ Essentials course and exam will cover core competencies in the latest hardware and software technologies, including a greater emphasis on information security skills, safety and environmental issues and soft skills. Enhancement of the security component reflects the fact that IT workers encounter a host of security issues related to applications, operating systems, communications, procedures, and physical environments. The addition of soft skills is in line with the need for IT workers to be able to interact and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and professional manner with co-workers, customers and partners.

To complete the CompTIA A+ certification, a second exam is required of which a choice of three is now available. The candidate chooses to specialise into a specific support area. The specialisations and corresponding exams have been released the choice being, exam 220-602 IT Technician, exam 220-603 Remote Support Technician and exam 220-604 Depot Technician.

DDLS is now offering the two courses required to obtain the CompTIA A+ certification the CompTIA A+ Certification Essentials Support Skills (166) and CompTIA A+ Certification Electives Support Skills (168)
