Cisco Live 2016. Did you get what you came for…?
So another year has passed and we find ourselves at that time again when we review exactly what we achieved over the four days of excitement that is Cisco Live 2016.
Some of the key messages to surface revolved around the ever-increasing importance of a secure network: Software Defined Networking will reach mainstream; and the Internet of Everything (IoE) is now a commercial reality. Digital Disruption was also a key discussion point and is something which will affect all businesses in the not-too-distant future. Cisco also reinforced their message around being software driven and why this will serve their customers well over the coming years.
Delve a little deeper and you may have met Doc Brown loitering around his time-travelling DeLorean in the Exhibition causeway or many other odd locations.
@Kevin Bloch yet again wowed the audience with his top ten tech predictions for 2016. How many of them will you be leveraging this year?
Half of the “IT Managers” sessions were hosted by female speakers, not to mention the session conducted by the Empowered Women’s Network which was well attended.
16,000 delegate meals, countless megalitres of that funky mock sangria and 12 hectares of Amazonian rainforests’ worth of business cards exchanged.
We hope you stopped by the DDLS stand where we hosted mini-golf and we gave away a drone (unique this year) and the major prize of an official Cisco course. We had many attendees attempt to embarrass their boss during a round of mini-golf and some who simply chose to stop by and say “hi”.
Sneaky Sound System rocked out Thursday evening’s festival customer appreciation event with Noiseworks’ Jon Stevens providing support. Both bands prove you’re never too old to put on a good show. Speaking of good shows did you get a chance to immerse yourself in the Melbourne Street food, Oktoberfest or Rio Carnival celebrations that went on well into the evening?
Personally, being my ninth event in a row, I have to say the event just keeps getting better every year. The Friday frenzy in the “World of Solutions” was very well attended and the delegate participation was outstanding.
Finally, if the wealth of information left you wanting more, don’t forget to check out our extensive list of Cisco courses on the very latest technologies to stay ahead of the technology curve.
We hope you had a great time and we look forward to seeing you in 2017.
