The CEO's Corner: DDLS' L&D Consulting Practice

Education is also being disrupted by leveraging fantastic technologies and state of the art communication platforms, to deliver training interventions that learners can access in ways that suit them. This is driving a trend of moving from traditional classroom-based learning to various online modalities.

As well as our renowned classroom training, DDLS has worked in the area of customised Learning and Development (L&D) Consulting for more than ten years. In this time DDLS has taken on major projects for organisations, including designing and developing a range of supply chain management systems training courses and delivering them across Australia for Government clients, building eLearning training and assessment modules and implementing a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver an Australian partner accreditation portal for a global electronics manufacturer and customising our technical training to deliver onsite training to delivery and support teams prior to project deployments. Today, this consulting practice is known as our L&D Consulting Practice and is led by our National Sales and Consulting Manager, Michael Devitt; with a focus on enabling clients to gain a greater return on investment from their projects via better skilled staff and more effective utilisation of the technology.

The practice has a standard approach to learning solutions that is based on the ADDIE framework: Analysis, Design, Development, Implement and Evaluate. Our practice has specialities that include Information Technology, eLearning and LMS, Project Management and Managing by Project. Our objective is to leverage the skills, knowledge and experience that we have amongst our 100 plus personnel within our instructor team, instructional designers, content developers and Learning Solutions consultants, to deliver innovative learning solutions that help our clients achieve their goals. The key is to select the best training intervention for each target group within client organisations.

We believe that we will always deliver classroom training, as we know that training and learning will always have a component that occurs between people. We continue to receive wonderful feedback from our clients about the learning outcomes they experience from our classroom training that shows that the accelerated skills development from a five-day course is difficult to match any other way, in addition to the added benefits from the peer learning experience by having other students in the classroom. In the XaaS world, training services are now described as Adoption Services, based on the Land, Adopt, Expand and Renew model put forward by the Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA). The blended learning solutions put together by our L&D Consulting Practice play an important role in improving our clients’, and their clients', skills in adopting and consuming services. For robust, deep technical training, we believe that this will always need to include a classroom component.
