The CEO's Corner: Train from the location of your choice
by Mal Shaw
For most of 2015 our NSW team has been planning and designing our new Sydney training centre at 477 Pitt Street which will open in January 2016. After 20 years at Wynyard we had to relocate due to redevelopment of the Wynyard station area. As well as being purpose-built for modern training in Technology, Process & People, our new facility is enabled for our distance education service that we call DDLS Anywhere.
We created DDLS Anywhere because we had clear feedback from some of our clients that they wanted to attend our training but were not able to bear the cost and time impact of travelling to our training centre. Also, there are some courses that we can never run, due to numbers, outside the larger capital cities that can now be accessed by DDLS Anywhere from the location of your choice. We are now delighted to expand this service by offering more DDLS Anywhere classrooms in Sydney. The service uses a mixture of Telepresence technologies to deliver a training experience that is as close as possible to being in the classroom. Our Telepresence connected students are returning course evaluations as high as those students who are in the classroom and give us very positive feedback about the advantages to them of being able to access the course from the location of their choice.
Of course, you are welcome to train in one of the brand new classrooms in the centre but if you aren't able to travel to Sydney you could attend from another classroom in one of our other training centres in Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth; or you could attend using your organisation's Telepresence-enabled meeting room; or you could attend with your own laptop and headset from your home or office.
The team at DDLS wish you and your families, a safe and happy holiday season, a fantastic New Year and one of our resolutions will be to do everything that we can to revolutionise the way that training can be accessed by using technology to remove the tyranny of distance.
