FAQs

Why do a Scrum certification?
The knowledge gained by getting a SCRUMstudy™ certification is universal in its application and has been applied by organisations in diverse projects spanning an eclectic mix of industries. SCRUMstudy certifications are widely reputed and accepted by various Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, IBM, HP, Bank of America, AT&T, Dell, Verizon, Lockheed Martin, and PepsiCo.

Who is Scrum certification for?

  • The Scrum Master Certified (SMC) certification is appropriate for anyone who is interested in becoming a Scrum Master.

  • The Scrum Product Owner Certified (SPOC) certification is for anyone who interfaces with stakeholders or works as a Product Owner in a Scrum Team.

Is the exam included with the training?
The SMC and SPOC training courses include an exam voucher to sit an online proctored exam through SCRUMstudy. Vouchers are valid for 180 days.

Does Scrum certification expire?
To maintain certification status, SMC and SPOC holders should renew within three calendar years of its issue date. As the Scrum/Agile field is maturing, it is important for practitioners to be abreast of current and latest innovations in the field.

Certification can be renewed in two ways:

  1. Recertification examination - a shorter Recertification exam consisting of only half the exam questions. A student can pass the Recertification exam with just a few hours of study. Passing the Recertification exam implies that the student has reviewed the latest concepts from the SBOK™ Guide.

  2. SCRUMstudy certification examination - Passing any other SCRUMstudy certification exam implies that the student has reviewed the latest concepts from the SBOK Guide and fulfils the criteria for maintaining certification.

Why maintain/renew a Scrum certification?
Maintaining a certification enables a student to demonstrate their commitment to continuing learning. It also demonstrates their knowledge of Scrum/Agile to employers, peers and colleagues.
