Essential Energy recently deployed Microsoft Office 2010 across its business wide enterprise.

The project objectives were to manage the structure of the new Microsoft Office environment and upload the new software to all desktop and laptops across Essential Energy regions. The existing desktop environment was MS Office 2003 so the effective change required training to accompany the deployment, so that the productivity loss expected by implementing a new Office environment could be managed.

Essential Energy chose DDLS as a supplier and commenced dialogue with our account manager. The education need was mapped out and the final training needs analysis agreed upon.

The use of DDLS’ mobile classroom facility, the need for DDLS to provide the instructor at remote sites and the need for that instructor to follow the program were all negotiated quickly and efficiently and agreement was signed off.

The release of training manuals made available to all who attended classroom training was also handled by DDLS. There were some minor issues with printing however these were quickly resolved and the deployment was completed within the expected timeframe. The use of the eLearning library was also a contributing factor to select DDLS.

At the time of selection Essential Energy did not have an internal eLearning capability and DDLS set up an arrangement whereby Essential Energy employees were given access to an offsite eLearning facility. The library was populated with the appropriate training to guide our employees through the change to the new MS Office environment. The eLearning site provided access to in-built reporting so that the project team could track and report on the use of the site and the success of course completion.

The cost of the total package was compared with other education providers and was inside the highest offer. The total cost to Essential Energy was within the budget made available for training. The service we received from DDLS was excellent and I would not hesitate in contacting them for any similar future work should it be required.
